Qualifications:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
- Bachelor’s degree
- Ability to pass, or evidence of passing, reading, writing, listening, and speaking tests in English and Karen
- Understanding of K-12 educational system
- Access to transportation for traveling between buildingsÂ
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience as an advocate
- Experience as an interpreter
- Understanding of immigrant/refugee needs
- Desire to participate in change efforts to create more culturally sensitive schools and community services
- Ability to make presentations in front of staff and parents
- Ability to work well with Karen families
- Satisfactory past attendance record
  Responsibilities:
- Communicate District 622 policies and procedures to Karen families
- Advocate on behalf of families and students whose first language or culture is Karen
- Facilitate communications, interactions and activities among parents, students and staff that recognize and celebrates cultural differences
- Ensure that school procedures are inclusive
- Educate school staff on Karen culture
- Other related duties as assigned
