Job Summary
Behavior Interventionist has the knowledge and skills necessary to assist individuals, groups and systems through the application of positive behavior supports. The Behavior Interventionist helps coordinate Functional Assessments of Behavior and Behavior Intervention Plan that address students’ inappropriate behaviors and provide a means to help the students become more academically successful. Behavior Intervention also provides classroom and school-wide behavior management strategies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists the building principal in establishing a positive environment for achieving educational outcomes
- Assists the building principals during escalated situations
- Interprets and supervises the implementation of district policies
- Maintains building and occupant safety and security Â
- Establishes and maintains a positive school climate for students
- Advocates for equal educational opportunity for all students
- Works closely with alternative center and site-based programs, student assistance programs, liaison programs and curricular programs
- Assists with the development and implementation of student attendance procedures, monitoring, student management, and conduct policiesÂ
- Directs the reporting and monitoring of student attendance
- Administers student discipline policies within district policyÂ
- Assists in supervision of co-curricular programs and advisory programs as assigned
- Assists teachers with planning effective strategies to address student attendance and behavioral issues in the classroom
- Develops positive cooperative relationships with parents and staff to create a positive learning environment for students
- Establishes behavior plans and manages student behaviors in order to maintain a safe and productive learning environment for students in grades Pre-K to 7
- Use the IM4 and Fastbridge data management systems to document and track behaviors
- Facilitate small groups based on social skills and behavioral needs
- Collaborates with school counselors and teachers to support student needs
- Attends staff and committee meetings as requiredÂ
- Submits all documents in a timely manner
- Attends Parent/Teacher Conferences as required
- Maintains professional competence through attendance at workshops and sessions designed to fulfill Continuing Education Units
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of Infinite Campus
- Thorough knowledge of standard office equipment and softwareÂ
- Ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages Â
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, students, parents, and elected officials.
- Extensive knowledge of IM4 and Fastbridge
Education/Certification Requirements
- Master’s Degree in, Education, or related field. (preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree with coursework in education, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (minimum)
- 125 Continuing Education Units every five years
Experience Requirements
- Experience in behavior management/intervention (preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in a school setting (preferred)
