Summary
Description
The Behavior Consultant will serve as an IEP team member on an as needed basis, with focus on team support. The consultant will assist staff in providing programming for students, including structuring classroom environments. The consultant will engage in problem solving with team members, including recommending appropriate resources and providing training for school staff.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree (Board Certified Behavior Analyst preferred)

ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS:
Â
PROVIDE CONSULTATION TO SCHOOL PERSONNEL AND PARENTS REGARDING STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES WITH BEHAVIORAL NEEDS
- Recommend strategies related to students’ specific needs
- Provide consultation by virtual and onsite visits to school staff addressing the specific needs of students
- Develop and disseminate current resource materials to school staff and parents

PROVIDE STAFF DEVELOPMENT/IN-SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES FOR SCHOOL PERSONNEL, PARENTS, AND PEERS REGARDING THE EDUCATIONAL IMPLICATIONS OF STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES WITH BEHAVIORAL NEEDS
- Develop and implement training opportunities relating to the unique needs of students with behavioral needs
- Coordinate network meetings for teachers, parents and other professionals
- Assist IEP teams as needed in the development of effective IEP goals and objectives based on student needs, including student centered transition planning

SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF APPROPRIATE IEP’S AND INCLUSIVE CLASSROOM PRACTICES FOR IDENTIFIED STUDENTS
- Function as a part of the multi-disciplinary teams for specific students as needed
- Assist teams in the consideration of assistive technology
- Assist in the development of positive behavior support plans
- Assist teams in the design of physical environments

ASSIST SCHOOL DISTRICT STAFF IN THE ASSESSMENT PROCESS FOR STUDENTSÂ
1. Assist teams in developing comprehensive evaluation plans
2. Provide teams with assistance and advice on implementation of appropriate assessment/re-assessment procedures
3. Assist in conducting observations in a natural environment across a variety of domains
PROMOTE INTERAGENCY COLLABORATION TO ENHANCE EDUCATIONAL TRANSITION PLANNING THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL EXPERIENCE
- Develop relationships and connections with agencies and individuals to help support children and families
- Promote and support self-determination for identified students
- Collaborate with other behavior consultants to provide best educational services for students
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance skill level based on identified needs and trends
