AVID Tutor

More than 8,500 diverse student learners are provided an exceptional education experience throughout the district’s early learning center, six elementary schools (K- Grade 5) including both French and Spanish Immersion programs, two middle schools (Grades 6-8), a high school (9-12), and the Edina Virtual Pathway online program.

Edina Public Schools has opening for part-time AVID Tutors.  AVID tutors will work with small groups of middle school AVID elective students.  AVID tutors’ schedule coincides with the AVID elective classes under the supervision of an AVID teacher.  Tutors must attend training sessions.  AVID Tutors utilize the AVID learning strategies while facilitating and coaching students in a digital setting.

RATE OF PAY:

Hourly wage of $21.06/hour

SCHEDULE:

B Days 
10 am -1pm

DAYS PER YEAR:

All Student days

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Currently enrolled in post-secondary education or two years of post-secondary education preferred
• Interest in working in a student population
• Ability to effectively communicate with students and staff
• Ability to perceive students’ needs and develop positive relationships
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to think and respond quickly while demonstrating patience
• Ability to use a computer to access shared Google files and facilitate Google Meets
• Access to internet
• Access and use of a chromebook or laptop with networking capabilities preferred
