$48,166 – $89,645 per Teachers Work Agreement, will negotiate based on qualifications/years of experience.
Supervisor of Position: Kandi Danielson, Early Childhood Special Education Program Supervisor
Qualifications: Minnesota teaching license in Early Childhood Special Education; also looking for Minnesota teaching license in Autism Spectrum Disorder, but not required: prefer previous experience in working with students with disabilities in a home-based and/or early childhood setting; must have a valid driver’s license and transportation for travel throughout district/traveling to homes.
Summary of Position: The Early Childhood Special Education Teacher will work with families and students (ages 3 to 5) in an inclusive preschool setting or center-based program. There is a potential for working with families in the birth-3 range. The teacher will work with a team of staff to assess, identify, and provide direct services to students that qualify for services. We are also looking for a teacher to be our Autism Consultant for the Birth-5 year old program. This person would work with all teams and complete any autism testing needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of child growth and development, principles of coaching, effective communication skills, and the ability to develop positive and trusting relationships with families.
- This position requires direct special education services within a preschool setting, completing assessments, and potential of family consultation to be provided in the home setting for children ages birth to three with special needs.
- Perform age appropriate educational assessments with children in the home and/or early childhood setting.
- Develop, write, and implement appropriate IEPs and other documentation required by St. Francis Area Schools and MDE.
- Attend and facilitate IEP meetings for assigned students.
- Work in a team setting to provide effective educational opportunities that will assist children and their families in achieving their individual outcomes as well as working with families to coordinate and integrate educational services, social services, health services, and parent education.
- Assist Early Childhood staff in child find activities.
- Model appropriate adult/child interaction.
