East Grand Forks School District is seeking applicants for an Assistant Principal at South Point Elementary. 

East Grand Forks, MN is a city with a population of approximately 8,500 and located in the heart of the Red River Valley in Northwest Minnesota. It borders Grand Forks, ND and is very close to the University of North Dakota and Northland Community and Technical College. The district’s K-12 enrollment is approximately 1900 students as well as a thriving preschool program. The district has four separate school buildings housing grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12.

The successful candidate must hold a Principal K-12 license in the State of Minnesota or ability to obtain said licensure.
The candidate must possess highly effective interpersonal and leadership skills and the ability work harmoniously with a wide range of students, families, and staff members.
Ideally, the candidate will also have previous experience in an instructional leadership role and elementary education

Reporting Relationship:
The Assistant Principal reports directly to the Building Lead Principal as well as the Superintendent

Basic Function of the Position:
The Elementary Assistant Principal’s primary role is to support the lead principal in the efficient operation of the school. Primary focus will be on managing student discipline, supporting teachers and staff, collaborating with parents and guardians to ensure student success and fostering an overall general positive learning environment at South Point Elementary.

Job Description:
1. Positive Behavior Interventions – develop strategies for promoting positive and preventing disciplinary behaviors; promote, implement and support the school’s MTSS and PBIS programs
2. Student Discipline – implement and enforce school policies and procedures; mediate student disciplinary issues in a fair and consistent manner; and establish data routines
3. Instructional Leadership – support the principal in implementing the schools educational goals and objectives, assist in classroom observations and provide feedback to teachers on how to improve, assist in developing and implementing curriculum, instruction and assessments.
4. Teacher and Staff Support – support teachers in team and department meetings; in implementing policy and procedure; assist in evaluations of instructional and non-instructional staff
5. Parent Engagement – promote school culture, building positive relationships with parents and guardians, participate in parent meetings; and attend school events
6. Administrative Duties – Assist in the day-to-day operation of the school including facility management and facilitate smooth bus drop off and pick up procedures.
