Assistant Director of Teaching, Learning, and Equity Programs 
Annual Salary: $
124,648
Temporary position through June 30, 2025
 

Summary:
Duluth Public Schools is seeking an individual who is responsible for providing supervision, leadership, and assistance to district staff. Provides leadership and assistance to building and district administrators for various TLE programs as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent. Support various initiatives aimed at enhancing educational outcomes and promoting equity. 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in education or related field.
  • Proven leadership experience in education.
  • Knowledge of grant writing and submissions process.
  • Experience in managing and supervising staff.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of data analysis and evaluation methods.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in educational leadership.
  • Licensed building or district administrator

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:

    • Develop and implement various department plans to support the district’s TLE goals.
    • Collaborate with TLE leaders and principals to align programs and initiatives.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Program Management:

    • Oversee and manage American Indian Education coordination and supervision.
    • Oversee, manage, and supervise the Technology Department.
    • Oversee and manage Office of Educational Equity coordination and supervision from January 2025 to June 30, 2025.
    • Oversee and support the coordinators of all summer school programming for the summer 2025 session.
    • Oversee and support the coordinators for all after school (Out of School Time) programming including EXCEL.
    • Monitor program budgets and ensure efficient resource allocation.
  • Staff Supervision and Development:

    • Provide leadership, support, and supervision to assigned staff within the programs cited above.
    • Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback to assigned staff within the programs cited above.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Equity and Inclusion:

    • Promote equity and inclusion in all aspects of assigned programs.
    • Identify and address barriers to assigned programs that support students.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop culturally responsive and inclusive practices including community and parent advisory groups supporting assigned programs.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:

    • Analyze student achievement data to inform decision-making.
    • Prepare regular reports on program progress and outcomes.
    • Ensure compliance with program grant requirements and timelines.

Other duties as assigned.

Family Coverage – District pays 25% of Premium

Life Insurance

District provides minimum of $50,000 of life insurance at no cost, employee may purchase supplemental life insurance

Flexible Spending Accounts

Employees may elect to contribute on a pre-tax basis to Health Flexible Spending Accounts and Dependent Care Accounts

Retirement

The District contributes 7.5% of your total salary in the Public Employees Retirement Association) pension plan.
Employees may also elect to participate in Tax-Shelter Annuity options.

Time Off

Each bargaining unit contract defines time off provisions such as holidays, sick/personal leave, vacation, etc.
