Type of Position:
Special Education Educational Assistant
As an Educational Assistant (EA), you will belong to a great team that supports students and teachers in the school and the classroom.  An EA provides the necessary support that enables the students to succeed and grow both academically and in their independence.  We expect our EA’s to be advocates and positive role models for the students and staff they work with in the school.  You will be assigned a mentor and will be provided training and resources.

Center Based EA’s work with specific students within the Autism program. Students have a variety of needs.

Duty Days/Hours:
171 duty days (student contact days)
8:45 am – 3:45 pm

Salary:
$18.22 per hour

Positions 1,020 hours or more per year are benefit eligible

Qualifications:  

  • Required: High School diploma
  • Preferred: Experience working with students with special needs; PCA certification; current CPI certification
  • This position will require staff to obtain “Highly Qualified” status with the state of Minnesota.  District will provide necessary training to obtain.

Job Duties:

  • Provide students with defined supports from their Individualized Education Plans under the direction of the special education teacher.
  • Collect data on student progress in the general or special education classroom under the direction of the special education teacher.
  • Partner with teachers and administrators to provide the best possible educational environment for students.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities throughout the school year to best serve students.
