Summary

The K-6 art teacher will inspire students to learn about the complex world around them, developing their understanding of history, geography, economics and culture, fostering thinking and empathy.

Description

Key Duties –  Develop and deliver engaging lessons that comply with state standards and/or national standards.
Facilitate classroom discussions to encourage students' understanding and application of historical events and social trends.  Assess student progress through a variety of methods and provide constructive feedback. Incorporate technology and other educational tools to enhance learning experiences.

Develops and administers art curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives. Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conductive to student learning. Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual students needs, including student with special needs. Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record keeping, grading and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by the district. Establishes and maintains standard of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Coordinates with other professional staff members and participates in PLC's and other monthly meetings. Other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other administrators.

Additional  Responsibilities:   Participate in regular professional development, the school's professional learning community and staff meetings to improve instruction. Work collaboratively and communicate professionally school leadership and other staff members to maximum effective instructional activities and build positive school culture.  Demonstrate the standards for effective practices of teachers and other assigned duties as assigned.
