Description
Twin Bluff Middle School is seeking a MN licensed teacher(s) to help students grow in their mathematics knowledge and proficiency. A math teaching license is not required, but you must have a passion for mathematics and youth leadership. Â
This position would supervise and support high school students who will be mentoring middle school students at Twin Bluff on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. This position will be for the remainder of the 24-25 school year and may be shared by a TEAM of teachers
Teacher time each day:Â 3:50 – 5:20 pm (1.5 hours)
Student contact time each day: 3:50 – 4:50 pm (1 hour)
Rate of pay:Â $50.00/ hour
The teacher(s) will also be paid $50/hour to attend training with high school tutors (or “Math Literacy Workers”) by The Young People’s Project. The training will teach math concepts, develop social and professional competencies, as well as how to work collaboratively and facilitate learning for younger peers. Participants will leave the training with a deeper sense of how their personal and collective gifts can be used to enhance learning for others and improve the quality of public education for all youth.Â
The training will be in Red Wing on:
Friday, November 15th: 4 pm – 8 pm.Â
Saturday, November 16th: 8 am – 5 pm.
Sunday, November 17th: 8 am – 5 pm.Â

This position is granted funded through the MDE Innovation in Service Learning Grant and will primarily focus on developing the following math practices from the Standard for Mathematical Practices:

Construct viable arguments and appreciate and critique the reasoning of others. (Math Practice #3)

Model with mathematics. (Math Practice #4) Mathematically proficient students can apply the mathematics they know to solve problems arising in everyday life, society, and the workplace.Â
