Adult Basic Ed Teacher
Part-Time  10 months/74 days/5.5 hrs a day
Hours:  Tuesday and Thursday evenings

Locations:  Metro North ABE – Brooklyn Center Adult Education Center, 5910 Shingle Creek Parkway, Brooklyn Center, MN 55430

Duties:  Provide direct instruction (online and in-person) to adults learning English as a Second Language in level 2.  Duties include: plan lessons and offer direct instruction, conduct ongoing assessment, monitor student attendance, attend staff meetings, collaborate with other staff, keep student records, and support volunteers.  Use zoom or google meet during online instruction, various online platforms and resources, and implement the CCRS/ACES/NorthStar standards.  Position works on-site at the BC location. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:  Current MN Teaching License or Masters degree in ESL (TESOL), applied linguistics, or bilingual education.  Strong communication and organizational skills.  Ability to be flexible and function well in a busy environment. Ability to work as a team member. Computer skills required. Experience using cooperative teaching strategies during instruction and integrating technology into learning. Must be physically working in the building/on site.

Preferred Qualifications:  Experience working with diverse populations preferred.  Experience in an adult ESL academic program, experience teaching low level ESL classes and experience and ease in working with computers preferred.

Rate of pay: $33.59/hour

Start Date:  ASAP after hire
