Adult Basic Ed Teacher
Part-Time  12 months/87 days/4.75 hrs a day
Schedule:  Tuesday and Thursday evenings

Locations:  Metro North ABE – Adult Education Center- Columbia Heights/Fridley, 4111 Central Ave NE, Columbia Heights, MN

Duties:  Provide direct instruction to multilingual adults learning English in level 2 PM, in-person class.  Responsibilities include lesson planning and direct instruction, conducting ongoing assessment, monitoring student attendance, attending staff meetings, collaborating with other staff, keeping student records, and supporting volunteers.  Use communicative and cooperative teaching strategies during instruction. Integrate technology and implement the CCRS/ACES/NorthStar standards.  Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:  Current MN Teaching License, or ABE License, or Masters degree in TESL, applied linguistics, or bilingual education. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to be flexible and function well in a busy environment. Ability to work as a team member. Computer skills required. Must be physically working in the building/onsite.

Preferred Qualifications:  Experience working with diverse populations preferred.  Experience in an adult ESL academic program, experience teaching low literate adults and experience and ease in working with computers preferred.  Experience using cooperative teaching strategies during instruction and integrating technology into learning. preferred.

Rate of pay: $33.59/hour.
