Adult Basic Ed Literacy Assistant – Student Support
Location:  Adult Education Center- Brooklyn Center

Part-Time:  10 months/73 days/ 4.25 hrs a day
Schedule:  Tuesday and Thursdays, 4:30 pm- 8:45 pm

Duties:  Conduct progress testing with assigned standardized tests (training provided).  Assist multilingual adult English learners in the classroom under the guidance of a licensed teacher in the areas of listening, speaking, reading, writing, math, and basic computer skills. Additional duties include monitoring student attendance, conducting student follow up, completing student data and record keeping, and supporting volunteers. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:  High School Diploma or equivalent.  Strong communication and organizational skills.  Ability to work on a team.  Ability to be flexible and function well in a busy environment.  Ability to maintain regular attendance, which includes completing an assigned day.  Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.  Ability to perform position responsibilities including physical factors, work devices and materials handling, data functions, and people functions.  Must be physically working in the building/on site. 

Preferred Qualifications:  Experience working in an ABE academic program preferred.  Experience working with diverse populations, ESL learners, and adult learners preferred.  Experience with technology (Google Workspace) preferred.  BA/BS degree preferred.  Bilingual skills a plus.  

Rate of pay:  $17.00/hour.

Start Date:  asap upon hire
