Administrative Assistant II (Middle School)
Schedule: Monday – Friday   40 hrs/wk (10 months)
Wage: $17.94 per hour

 

I. JOB SUMMARY

Provide in-depth secretarial/clerical support to the principal and staff of the middle school.  Major emphasis is placed on the organization and coordination of the internal clerical office functions of the school. 

II. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

 
Responsibilities and tasks include: 

  • Provide secretarial/clerical support to the principal and school staff in the form of typing, filing, scheduling, duplication of materials, answering phones.
  • Greet visitors and answer questions/concerns for the school to include functioning as a liaison between the principal and teachers, other management staff, students, parents and the general public.  
  • Any other duties assigned by the Principal

Other functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist in the health office when necessary
  • Performs other general duties as needed or assigned to ensure smooth operation of the department
  • Work in collaboration with the building principal to roll-out and support large initiatives.
  • Superb communication and technology skills are highly important to the success of this position
  • Flexibility for event setup, errands, ect. 

III. CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE

Physical Involvement:
General office working conditions, primarily sitting, using close vision and talking; frequently using keyboard to input information into computer, reaching with arms and hands; occasionally presenting information to small groups and lifting up to 20 pounds.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 
Minimum qualifications include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Extensive secretarial/clerical and computer skills including:  Google Suite, Publisher, Mail Merge, Word, Access, online platforms (Sign Up Genius)
  • Extensive skills in developing and maintaining record system
  • Knowledge of district policies as they affect the general operation of the building
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of the materials and information disseminated daily
  • Human relation strengths including helping, serving, and exchanging information
  • Strong communication skills; oral and written
  • Understanding of the school culture and environment, and a commitment to carrying out the vision and mission of the district
