Academic and behavioral support tutor/Class 3 education assistant
Sandburg Middle School
7.5 hours per day, which includes seven hours of paid work time and 30 minutes of unpaid lunch time
$18.47 to $19.69 per hour plus benefits based on current collective bargaining agreement for education assistants
 
RESPONSIBILITES

• Assist principal and other school staff with student behavior management.
• Support implementation of the school-wide behavior plan.
• Supervise students outside grade-level classrooms.
• Assist students in classrooms and other areas of the school as needed.
• Work with individual students and/or small groups of students.
• Coordinate with teachers for student work.
• Other duties as assigned.

 
QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma required with post-secondary coursework preferred.  
• Knowledge of effective behavioral strategies for middle school-aged students.
• Ability to work as part of a team to support implementation of intervention plans.
• Ability to remain calm, caring, and open minded when processing situations related to behavior with students and teachers.
• Experience working with students in grades 6-8.
• Able to attend work regularly and report to work in a timely manner.
