Your Job: As a Building Reserve Teacher (Building Substitute) at Hennepin Schools, you would work with a dynamic team to create and maintain classrooms that support our mission to:
Provide a safe, nurturing and cooperative learning environment where children discover their personal and academic strengths;
Cultivate a sense of respect and responsibility in self and others;
Create a sense of social awareness and a social bridge to the broader community;
Provide a curriculum that leads each child to educational success and closes the achievement gap; and
Instill self-esteem, confidence and a positive attitude in every child
Duties and Responsibilities:
Use MN State Standards to implement appropriate daily lesson plans designed to maximize every student’s potential
Implement the school-wide PBIS discipline policy
Participate in all team-wide meetings and professional development
Other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications and Requirements:
MN Teacher's License or 4 year degree in any related field
Ability to interact well with staff, students and families
Strong behavior management skills
Content knowledge of how students learn
Experience working with students of color
Detail oriented, flexible and able to multitask
Professional demeanor and appearance with a positive attitude and a sense of humor
Excellent planning and organizational skills
Self-motivated, proactive and resourceful in the completion of work assignments
Sense of accountability and ownership for work results
Knowledge of the following computer applications: Smartboard Notebook, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to maintain status of “not disqualified” upon completion of criminal background and MN disciplinary incidence research
Highly preferred: bilingual or multilingual, Pashto, Spanish or Somali preferred
Highly preferred: minimum of two years teaching experience

Hennepin Schools salary for this position is competitive and based on prior experience.
