Job Summary: Provide classroom instruction in Hmong Language and Culture.

Responsibilities

• Teach Hmong language to K-8 students. 

• Incorporate Hmong culture into class activities. 

• Infuse the Minnesota graduation standards for foreign language into the ongoing curriculum. 

• Develop cultural curriculum materials and instructional strategies for elementary students. 

• Incorporate hands-on learning activities into daily instruction.

• Communicate often with parents regarding the program goals, classroom activities and student progress.

• Provide a safe classroom environment for students.

• Collaborate with grade-level teams, administrators and other staff to ensure the success of students.

Requirements:

• A valid Minnesota K-12 school teaching license.

• Proficiency in the Hmong and English languages.

• Extensive knowledge of world culture.

• Current connection/ primary role within cultural community

Preferred:

• Successful elementary or middle school teaching experience. 

• Ability to implement creative and innovative teaching strategies. 

• Good organizational skills. 

• Flexibility relating to student and program needs. 

• Effective oral and written communication skills in Hmong and English. 

• Work cooperatively with parents as educational partners. 

• Commitment to the philosophy that all children can learn. 

• Commitment to teamwork within an educational setting. 

• Ability to write curriculum appropriate for elementary student levels.
