Job Summary: Provide classroom instruction in Hmong Language and Culture.
Â
Responsibilities
-
Teach Hmong language to K-8 students.Â

Incorporate Hmong culture into class activities.Â
-
Infuse the Minnesota graduation standards for foreign language into the ongoing curriculum.Â
-
Develop cultural curriculum materials and instructional strategies for elementary students.Â
-
Incorporate hands-on learning activities into daily instruction.
-
Communicate often with parents regarding the program goals, classroom activities and student progress.
-
Provide a safe classroom environment for students.
-
Collaborate with grade-level teams, administrators and other staff to ensure the success of students.
Â
Requirements:
-
A valid Minnesota K-12 school teaching license.
-
Proficiency in the Hmong and English languages.
-
Extensive knowledge of world culture.
-
Current connection/ primary role within cultural community
Â
Preferred:
-
Successful elementary or middle school teaching experience.Â

Ability to implement creative and innovative teaching strategies.Â

Good organizational skills.Â

Flexibility relating to student and program needs.Â

Effective oral and written communication skills in Hmong and English.Â

Work cooperatively with parents as educational partners.Â

Commitment to the philosophy that all children can learn.Â

Ability to write curriculum appropriate for elementary student levels.
