Description
License Required:
Minnesota K-12 ASD/ABS/EBD teaching license preferred. Â Will consider LD licensure if candidate is willing to obtain additional licensure within two years.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Strategy instruction – research and identify strategies/best practices that have the most impact on students who struggle with social, emotional, behavioral, communication, and learning needs and works with staff to embed these strategies in general education and special education setting.
- Coaching staff and providing feedback in delivery of curriculum to meet social, emotional, behavioral, communication needs.
- Work with a team to develop and deliver behavioral programming that allows students to access their education in the least restrictive environment, learn new skills, and adapt to change and challenge in the school setting.
- Suggest and model interventions and strategies.
- Provide professional development to both special educaiton and general education teachers who work together to support students who receive special education services or who are in interventions.
- Curriculum review and instructional practices through Program Review.
- Provide staff development on data collection to support staff in knowing if what they are doing is working or not working and how this can be reported and documented via the student’s IEP.
- Provide paraprofessional staff development to help paras create more independence with students.
- Supporting social thinking/social skills/social emotional groups, identify appropriate groupings, curriculum, & instructional strategies and supports.
- Attend weekly Student Support Team (SST)/Student Referral Team (SRT) meetings, as needed.
- Coordinate Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) trainings/recertification tracking with CPI teams.
