Position Title: .125 FTE Other Social Studies Teacher

Classes: Intro to Criminal Justice and Intro to Law Enforcement

Reports to: Site Level Administrator

Job Summary: 
As a Licensed Teacher, you will be responsible for developing lesson plans and delivering instruction to students in assigned instructional subjects/grade levels.  You would also be responsible for assessing student progress, as well as, collaborating with other instructional professionals, administrators, parents, counselors, and other district personnel regarding student needs, issues and district learning initiatives, curriculum and building issues.
 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and deliver classroom instruction to students in a manner consistent with the district's approved curriculum and learning objectives.
  • Assess student progress towards standards and learning targets in order to determine the need for interventions or extensions to instructional plans/techniques/goals.

  • Use a variety of teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning to best meet the needs of students and district learning outcomes.

  • Employ appropriate instructional technology to enhance student learning.

  • Establish and maintain student control and discipline in the classroom, school premises or during school activities by communicating expectations of appropriate behavior.

  • Collaborate with other educational professionals and administrators to assess student progress and performance, develop curriculum, and participate in building decision-making.

  • Provide professional expertise and assistance to individuals, other district staff and the community concerning areas of instructional expertise/knowledge.

  • Attend training sessions, conferences, IEP meetings, seminars, district and departmental meetings to keep up-to-date on changing developments, trends, instructional and educational technologies.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field, and a valid state teaching license (Preferred).

  • Knowledge of teaching principles, practices, techniques and approaches.

  • Knowledge of child development theories and development stages and needs.

  • Knowledge of current trends, theories and technologies pertaining to learning and instruction.

  • Knowledge of assessment development, procedures and techniques

  • Knowledge of subject material, concepts and issues related to grade/subject of assignment.

  • Basic understanding of the Google Suite, Schoology and Infinite Campus would be beneficial, but not required

 

Essential skills:

  • Skilled in the use of Standards and Learning Targets.

  • Skilled in planning and developing curriculum & lesson plans consistent with approved program curriculum. 

  • Skilled in presenting complex materials and concepts in an understandable and grade-appropriate manner.

  • Skilled in developing assessment tools and evaluating student performance and needs.

  • Skilled in leading group processes/discussions, utilizing a variety of instruction aids and technologies.

  • Ability to write reports, lesson plans, learning targets, assessments, and assist in writing and reviewing curriculum using and applying professional/technical concepts, principles, and terminology.

  • Ability to deal effectively and appropriately with parents, students, staff, and other educational professionals. 

 

The communities of Stewart, Buffalo Lake and Hector, where our K-12 building is located, is in West Central Minnesota, a short drive of the Twin Cities’ Western Suburban areas.
