Eden Prairie Schools is currently seeking applicants for the position of Special Education Paraprofessional.  
The Special Education Paraprofessional will assist with the special needs student with mobility, self-care, communication, and social interaction needs to maximize participation in classroom activities. 

  • Experience working with students with significant social, emotional, and behavioral needs

  • Experience with conflict resolution, positive peer interactions and providing clear directions in an education setting 

  • Experience collecting data that is shared with a student’s IEP team to make programming decisions

  • Experience working with Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP), and Emergency Procedures Plans including the use of Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) strategies preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:

  • Demonstrated communication skills,

  • ability to maintain confidentiality, 
  • sensitivity to the needs of special needs children, 
  • effective interpersonal skills, 
  • organizational skills, and 
  • basic computer proficiency. 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Implementing communication interventions and strategies consistent with the student’s IEP and supervising Speech-Language Pathologist’s guidance and direction.
  • Taking instruction and direction from licensed Speech-Language Pathologists and following classroom/program routines.
  • Establishing and maintaining professional and courteous working relationships.
  • Applying problem solving processes in implementing designated interventions.
  • Updating and maintaining required speech and language service documentation, files, and records.
  • Demonstrating communication techniques and methods to students.
  • Recognizing student strengths and weaknesses in communication and social functioning.
  • Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing. 

TESTING REQUIRED:
All job offers from Eden Prairie Schools are conditioned upon passing a pre-employment criminal background check and ISD 272 School Board approval.  Offers for these positions will also be conditioned upon passing a pre-employment physical physical abilities test.
