Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Must possess a current Minnesota Special Education license or DHH license or have the ability to obtain one by the start date
- Knowledge of the deaf/hard of hearing and deaf/blind students and educational practices
- Skill in writing basic reports, using arithmetic, and reading and interpreting charts and graphs
- Fluency in American Sign Language
- Ability to read and write English sufficient to understand written policies and procedures and education plans and to maintain records and documentation
- Human relations skills sufficient to establish rapport with and provide instruction to students
- Ability to perform emergency procedures and personal safety techniques
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of curriculum, language acquisition and educational best practices as it relates to deaf/hard of hearing students and/or deaf/blind students.
- Experience working with deaf/hard of hearing students
- Knowledge of the data practices as it relates to work in the social/human services field
- Demonstration of advanced sign skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (with assistance) and be able to sit, stand and walk throughout the workday
