Under direction of the Executive Director of Business Services, the Manager of Operations – Custodial Services is responsible for the day to day operations and maintenance of the District’s facilities and property. The manager organizes, administers, and leads a comprehensive program of maintenance and custodial services that provide and maintain in an efficient and economical manner the facilities, grounds, equipment, and furnishings of the District. The manager is also accountable for supervising assigned workers who provide a safe, clean and attractive facility for students, staff and the public; ensuring compliance with work orders; evaluating building custodial maintenance; ensuring availability of required equipment and completion of work in a safe, proper and timely manner. Â
Starting Salary is $94,381
Job Summary:
- Establishes cleaning standards and inspects custodial work for the purpose of ensuring site safety, maintaining cleaning standards, organizing and scheduling needed maintenance.
- Develops and communicates annual work schedules for custodial staff by identifying and interpreting school calendars, activities, available productive time and priorities for cleaning.
- Prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports including employee timesheets, inventory levels, facilities status and work performed.Â
- Oversees the workload of the department for the purpose of maximizing the efficiency of the workforce, meeting operational requirements, and providing guidance and direction to other staff.
- Supervision of Head/Lead Custodians and Head/Lead GroundspersonÂ
- Provides direction in prioritizing and assigning workÂ
- Conducts performance evaluations.
- Works in conjunction with Human Resources in hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
- Oversees, Manages, analyzes, and monitors the Custodial, Grounds and Maintenance budgets and purchasing consistent with established program goals and objectives, including minimizing District operational costs. Â
- Administration of the budgets ensuring full compliance with all State and School District rules, regulations and policies.Â
Qualifications:
-  Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management or Operations Management preferred. Major field of study or degree emphasis: Facilities, Operations or Industrial Management, preferred.
- At least five years of experience in managing maintenance and custodial operations.Â
- Experience in grounds/lawn maintenance preferred.Â
- Work experience in a public school system is an asset, but not required.Â
- Experience working on a team and leading people.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Boilers License or willingness to obtain
- Pool Operator’s License or willingness to obtain
- Interpersonal and communication skills needed to work and interact effectively within the educational community (i.e., students, educators, parents, staff and the general public) by displaying a comprehensive competence that promotes reliability, balance, responsiveness and flexibility
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and interact with a variety of audiences.
