Description
Summary: Provide a rigorous, stimulating and positive learning experience for all students; work closely with parents and/or guardians to support student performance, and collaborate with other staff to create a safe, structured learning community.
Positive School Community
• Establish and enforce Responsive Classroom practices consistently, including Take a Break, Modeling, Logical Consequences, attend morning meetings and closing circles when appropriate
• Organize and lead classroom activities to promote physical, mental and social emotional health and development
• Maintain positive, professional relationships with staff, students and parents in and out of school
• Meet with parents and/or guardians to discuss student progress and to determine priorities and needs for their students
• Communicate with parents and families regularly, through range of means (newsletters, designated phone apps, phone calls and email).
• Attend and help coordinate monthly family events
• Implement school discipline policies as explained in the Schoolwide Guide
Curriculum
• Implement identified ELL curriculum and WIDA standards with fidelity as directed by administration, Integrating with classroom curriculum when applicable.
• Establish and communicate objectives for ALL lessons based on MN State Standards and WIDA standards
• Plan and prepare activities for a balanced program of modeling, guided practice and independent work that provides students with opportunities to inquire, explore and investigate
• Prepare daily lesson plans and provide written evidence of planning as requested by turning in lesson plans by Monday at 9:00 a.m.
• Collaborate as necessary with grade-level teams to promote learning and consistency between classrooms and determine special needs of EL students
• Integrate arts and technology into lessons to enhance teaching
• Adapt and differentiate teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ various needs and interests
• Schedule and meet with identified EL students according to their needs
• Collaborate with ESL Staff and school administration to ensure high rigor EL-specific academics are being taught.
Assessment
• Assess and evaluate students’ academic performance on a regular basis to enhance and inform instruction.
• Administer WIDA ACCESS testing appropriately and accurately as determined by state rules and law
• Maintain accurate and complete student files and a grade book as required by law, the school and EL regulations and standards
• Prepare academic and behavioral reports on students and activities as requested by administration
• Track EL students’ progress and comply with all state and federal laws regarding EL students.
Professional Responsibilities
• Select, store and inventory classroom equipment, materials and supplies
• Meet with school administrators, coaches and other school professionals regarding individual student needs
• Attend professional trainings and workshops to improve professional competence
• Attend all staff meetings; serve on committees as required and be aware of and follow all policies and essential agreements within the school
• Enforce the school food rules, as well as healthy snack expectations and Wellness policy
• Adhere to all Stonebridge Policies, Essential Agreements and School-Wide Guide
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Elementary Education
• Valid Minnesota teaching license for the appropriate level or subject area (ELL)

• Ability to effectively and openly communicate and work with diverse populations
• Adaptable and flexible with a positive professional demeanor
• Bilingual in Spanish, Somali or represented language a plus
