The mission of Aurora Charter School is to operate a center of learning that embraces academic excellence and celebrates the gift of Latino culture.

Our unique dual language program is designed around the three pillars of dual language education; Bilingualism and Biltieracy, High academic achievement, and socio-cultural competence. We strive to ensure that each child develops strong biliteracy skills, achieves at their highest potential, and develops a socio-cultural competence that helps them develop into noble citizens of our community. 

Position Purpose 
Under the direct supervision of the School Principal, ESL teachers are the language experts in the buildings where he/she serves. Teachers are expected to evaluate, instruct, and improve English proficiency as well as serve as resource to the school for English language concerns.  

School year: 2021-2022

Essential Functions

  • Writes and delivers lesson plans that are engaging and effective per student data
  • Implements classroom instruction that supports the social-emotional growth of students
  • Cultivates positive, collaborative relationships with families and consistent communication with families
  • Assesses and evaluates student growth; action plans on class-wide, group-wide and individual basis in response to student data
  • Creates a classroom culture that develops in students the BE GREAT core values and independent learning skills
  • Participates and grows tremendously during annual four-week staff orientation and training
  • Provides meaningful feedback to colleagues and collaborates and shares ideas and lessons with colleagues  

Additional Duties 

  •  Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

  • Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards 

  • Works in standard office and school building environments. 

Qualifications Profile

  • Valid MN State Teaching License in K-12 ESL 
  • Teaching experience in an urban public school or charter school setting preferred, but not required 
  • Proficiency in Spanish in oral and written form preferred, but not required.
