Position Information  
The New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva (NRHEG) School District has a Community Education ECFE Parent Educator teacher opening  beginning the 2024-2025 school year. Approximately 2-3 hours per week (hours based upon enrollment) during the Fall/Winter & Winter/Spring Sessions. A Parent and Family Education License or eligibility to obtain a tier 1 license preferred. 
Position Qualifications

  • Must have current Minnesota Parent Educator License or ability to acquire one.
  • Dual license with Early Childhood preferred.¬†
  • Experience in an ECFE program desired.¬†
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of adult learning methods, group process, and group facilitation skills.¬†
  • Working knowledge of ECFE philosophy, goals, and objectives.¬†
  • Experience with teaming/collaborating with others in educating young children and supporting families.¬†
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication
  • Experience working with diverse populations. Demonstrate ability to be culturally and linguistically responsive
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain positive relationships with students, school, Community Education, parents, instructors, and community members.¬†
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred.¬†

Job Duties and Responsibilities 

  • The Early Childhood¬†Parent Educator¬†for the ECFE program will provide parent education and support for parents and children served in ISD 2168 Early Childhood Family Education Program.¬†
  • Plan and implement structured parent education classes
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the District approved curriculum to the needs of each learner.¬†
  • Work cooperatively with the EC Teacher and support staff.¬†
  • Develop lesson plans and provide resources to caregivers around parenting topics and best practices.¬†
  • Provide outreach, information and referral
  • Coordinates communication between stakeholder groups; acts as a resource for parents.¬†
  • Maintain up to date records
  • Handles confidential information appropriately¬†
  • Experience in marketing programs and supervising, leading, delegating, and evaluating the activities of support staff personnel.¬†
  • Maintains a professional day, as defined by building/and contract.¬†
  • Communicates regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, phone calls, e-mails, conferences, etc.¬†
  • Works in a supportive and collaborative manner with colleagues and supervisors.¬†
  • Maintains and improves professional skills by participating in building and department meetings, formal coursework, workshops, Professional Learning Communities or seminars in an effort to stay current with best teaching practices.¬†
  • Participates in a professional learning community on a regular basis.¬†
  • Integration of technology into instruction.¬†
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.¬†

Specific Responsibilities 

  • Collaborative work in an energetic environment interacting with parents, students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community with multiple requests and concerns.¬†
  • Support and communicate with other administrators and staff.¬†
  • Respond in emergency situations.¬†
  • Know, interpret, and follow school District policies.¬†
  • May plan and coordinate the work of paraprofessionals and volunteers in the classroom¬†
  • Create hands-on lesson plans that work for multi-ages as well as age specific classes¬†
  • Assists with tracking student/parent attendance¬†
  • Attends trainings to improve skills and knowledge base that are specific to Early Childhood¬†
  • Complete other jobs as assigned¬†

 Knowledge and Skills 

  • Has strong knowledge base in the area of Early Childhood¬†
  • Demonstrated ability to apply appropriate skills in performing daily routines.¬†¬†
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a computer, software and necessary classroom technology.¬†
  • Ability to develop effective and positive working relationships with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community.¬†
  • Maintain professional composure while dealing with a variety of personalities and situations.¬†
  • Show initiative and function as a self-starter.¬†
  • Effectively communicate and have interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.¬†

Physical Requirements
This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force, 50 pounds of force occasionally. Work regularly requires speaking and hearing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, and reaching with hands and arms, frequently requires standing, walking, and occasionally sitting, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions.
