Job Tittle:  Community School Coordinators – Lincoln Elementary

General Definition of Work
The Lincoln Elementary Community School Coordinator will specialize in working directly with Community Schools to enhance youth and family academic and enrichment programs and resources. The Community School Coordinator will represent FPS in a positive manner and support the design of cross-functional strategies in the areas of Student-Centered Learning and Family Engagement. Work is performed under the supervision of the Youth Programs Coordinator.

Job Description

  • Plans, schedules, implements, and evaluates aspects of the Community School.
  • Ensures use of best practices in Community School for children, youth, and adults.
  • Collaborates with a variety of community organizations to deliver programming.
  • Evaluates program effectiveness and participant satisfaction.
  • Assists and makes recommendations concerning fiscal needs and requirements for Community School programming, activities, and initiatives.
  • Develops out-of-school time and evening programming, including non-school day programming.
  • Coordinates Family Welcome Center/Family Resource Room in building.
  • Supports the establishment and/or continuation of youth and family access to school supplies, personal hygiene products, seasonal clothing, and/or other needs within the school.
  • Markets and promotes Community School activities and opportunities with all students.
  • Attends and actively participates in Community School teams and meetings.
  • Communicates, collaborates, and problem-solves with administrators, district personnel, parents, community members, and the Community School teams regarding student, staff and/or program issues.
  • Tracks required data for Community School funders and partners.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Oversees Community School instructional leads, program staff, community organization staff, and volunteers:

  • Recruits, trains, monitors, and evaluates program staff.
  • Coordinates professional development and workshops for staff.
  • Maintains and updates staff and volunteer manual.
  • Collaborates with community groups, associations, organizations and volunteers regarding programming, programming needs, operations or other relevant issues.
  • Assists with Targeted Services programming.
  • Works with the Human Resources Department for the hiring process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One to three years minimum experience working with youth from various backgrounds and diverse populations.
  • Minimum of three years experience working within a school system or similar setting. 
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish and/or Somali.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience working with school and community partners.  
  • Experience in development and implementation of youth development programs, community partnership initiatives, out-of-school-time programs, and other activities for youth and adults.  
  • Flexibility, strong interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to provide consistency within these programs.  
  • Innovative problem-solver, self starter, and one who possesses the ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.

Compensation & Benefits:
