Position:Â Instructional and Supervisory Paraeducator
Work Schedule:Â Monday thru Friday, 7.0 hours per day with 30 minute unpaid break (Clerical 3.50 hrs & Supervisory 3.50 hrs) – 7.50 total hrs/day
Start Date:Â ASAP
Pay:Â Clerical/Supervisory – $22.28/hour per the paraeducator labor agreement

Required Qualifications:Â
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Must possess and display excellent human relations skills when dealing with staff,students, and community.Â
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.Â
- Ability to provide excellent customer service to students staff and parents.
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Ability to communicate with students, staff and community.
- Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.Â
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of applicable district requirements and Board of Education policies.Â
Clerical Responsibilities:
- Provide clerical assistance for staff and students; prepare instructional and related materials for teachers and administrators, provide back up assistance for other clerical staff.
- Provide general office assistance including filing, opening and distributing mail, using the computer to type, input data and/or run reports, answering phones, copying, greet and assisting walk-in customers and students and other general office duties. May work on projects such as student handbook or newsletter.
- Prepare materials on copiers, collates and distributes to teachers and administrators. Use equipment such as copier, ThermoFax, and laminator to prepare materials.
- Contact parents regarding absent students, collect home work assignments from teachers and provide to students or parents, and communicate absences to appropriate staff.
- May escort students to and from various areas and supervise student in all areas of the facility to insure appropriate behavior; follows building discipline plans and assigns consequences or disciplinary action in accordance with individual and building plans. Communicate on a regular basis with teachers and administrators about student behavior or participation in various programs.
- Refer clean-up, repair or general maintenance problems to custodial staff.
- Assist with routine maintenance on copiers, etc. by filling with paper, toner, chemicals, and clearing paper jams.
- Post materials on bulletin boards and keep displays current.
- Provide clerical assistance to other staff.
- Other duties as necessary or assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance to the administration and teachers in the general supervision of students; assist in maintaining discipline on-site and while on field trips; communicate with bus drivers, community members, students, staff and parents.
- Supervise students on the playground, in hallways, lunchroom, bus areas (making sure students have transportation home), rest rooms locker rooms or parking lot area by moving throughout the supervision area, assisting students (including on and off equipment), assisting injured students, monitoring and responding appropriate to student misbehavior, and in extreme cases, may be required to restrain students consistent with individual student plans and district policy.
- Monitor behavior of students for appropriateness, initiate appropriate consequences for student misbehavior according to individual learning plans and building discipline plan or evaluating the need for further discipline; confer with administration, teachers, counselors or parents regarding behavior problems and discipline.
- Provide information to parents, drivers, and community members as necessary during supervision or as a result of disciplinary issues.
- Assist students who need special assistance such as using elevators.
- Assist classroom teacher in supervision of class and correcting papers; assist teacher with set up and take down of classroom materials for instructional units;Â May escort children around building; provide supervision on field trips; In early childhood program, may diaper and feed students, read stories, play with students, wash toys and paint brushes, straightening up room, etc.
- Refer clean-up, repair or general maintenance problems to custodial staff.
- Â Assist administration in conducting fire drills by insuring that students and teachers follow established rules for exit, re-grouping and re-entry to building.
- Â Provide some general clerical functions such as answering phones, greeting and assisting visitors, operating office machines, opening and distributing mail, and filing.
- Â Other duties as assigned.
