The WBLAS Nutrition Services Department is looking for positive and energetic people who love children, are flexible, are good team players, and are willing to learn new skills in a fun and fast-paced environment.

Salary Range:  $22.49/hour starting with possible per hour increases
 

  • Additional $0.70 per hour pay increase with School Nutrition Association Level 3 Certification
  • Additional $0.95 per hour pay increase with School Nutrition Association Level 4 Certification

Start Date:  As Soon As Possible 

Location: White Bear Lake Area High School

Work Week: 7 hours/day, Approximately 8:15am-3:15pm

Closing Date: 9/16/2024 -Candidates will be reviewed upon submission with selection starting no sooner than five days following the posting. 

Position Summary:
Oversee ala carte day-to-day operations, including student run coffee shop, snack room and vending
Performs intermediate semiskilled work work preparing, cooking and serving food in accordance with the menu
Leads staff in cleaning and maintaining the kitchen
Handles duties of the High School Kitchen Manager in their absence 
Position must be able to follow all rules and regulations
Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Nutrition Services High School Manager

Essential Functions:
Assist manager with daily activities of directing staff and daily operations
Orders, receives and inventories food and supplies
Works closely with student run coffee shop to train and evaluate students to meet their elective credit goals
Utilizes student and staff feedback to develop new products that meet smart snack guidelines
Performs duties of a Nutrition Services Assistant
Acts as a cashier during serving periods as needed; accepts funds for meal payments
Oversees point of sale computer system
Prepares and serves foodstuffs in accordance to menu
Sets up serving line including utensils, condiments, napkins, etc
Washes pots, pans, kettles and other cooking utensils
Maintains production and day end paperwork
Maintains food safety, kitchen cleanliness and related paperwork
Demonstrates excellent customer service to students, staff, parents, visitors and the general public
Performs other duties as assigned

Education and /or Experience:  
High school diploma or GED and moderate experience working in a food service role.

Special Requirements:
Minnesota Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) certification within six (6) months of hire
School Nutrition Association (SNA) Level 3 certification within one (1) year of hire
Sanitation and Safety Course through the MN Dept of Health is required every 3 years to maintain CFPM certificate.
