Description
Job Summary:Â The Future Educators Club Advisor oversees the student organization which encourages students to pursue post-secondary education in the field of education with a focus on urban leaders in an urban, suburban, and/or rural setting/environment. The Advisor offers direction, oversight, and assistance for all related activities of the student organization. The Advisor plans and implements appropriate activities, in compliance with rules, policies, procedures, and mandates at all levels of governance.

Representative tasks involved in fulfilling above duty/responsibility:
•        Actively recruit high school students to participate in the FEC.
•        Promote the FEC to students, staff, administration, and parents.
•        Advocate on behalf of the club, club members, and club leadership with faculty and administration, so that the club maintains credibility and respect in the school and the community.
Representative tasks involved in fulfilling above duty/responsibility:
•        Coordinate, supervise, and facilitate monthly meetings.
•        Arrange guest speakers and activities for each meeting.
•        Facilitate participation in FEC events, field trips and other activities.
•        Design and implement club activities that promote inter- and intra-district interaction with FEC members in other schools and districts.
Representative tasks involved in fulfilling above duty/responsibility:
•        Oversees and accounts for any financial dealings of the students including intake of money from fundraisers, deposit of monies into the student activities fund, and expenditure of the money.
•        Follows all applicable procedures for such budget oversight.
•        Performs other appropriate tasks and assumes such other responsibilities in connection with the advisorship as assigned by the Principal or Coordinator of Integration.

Qualifications:
•         Advisor must be a current teacher or counselor or cultural liaison in one of NWSISD’s member district high schools.
•        Knowledge or willingness to learn about mentoring/advising students
•        Demonstrated interest in/commitment to youth
•         Genuine interest in student success.
Skilled in:
•         Active listening, advocacy, conflict resolution, mentoring, encouraging and motivating;
•         Excellent organizational skills;
•         Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability Requirements:
•         Ability to work effectively with people of different ethnic, social and economic backgrounds;
•         Ability to work independently with limited supervision
